Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number submitted through a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the results; we do not retain or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email you send so our team can respond. We do not disclose the message outside our organization unless the law requires us to do so.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, our servers automatically receive certain technical details about the visit:
- The date and time of each page view
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Your device type and operating system
- Your browser type and version
- Your device's IP address
- Any website that referred you here
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on your device that help us understand traffic patterns, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine this usage information for us. You may block cookies in your browser, although doing so can change how parts of the website function.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a search request to the appropriate partner service
- Maintain reliable operation and page performance
- Identify and repair technical problems
- Understand which pages are useful and which need improvement
- Display advertising that may reflect your interests
No Court-Record Data on File
We do not host, keep, compile, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case-record information. This site only explains how to locate San Juan County records through the Clerk of Court, San Juan County Combined Courts, and Colorado Judicial Branch services. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is never assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes found on this site. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and disclosure practices apply to information entered there, and we do not control those choices. Read the applicable partner policy before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the San Juan County Combined Courts clerk, Colorado Judicial Branch systems, legal-aid organizations, or outside search tools. Once you follow a link away from this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select targeted advertisements. That processing occurs on their systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure site traffic and performance
- Search partners that process a query you submit
- Advertising networks that serve ads on these pages
- Government authorities or law enforcement acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary security measures to protect collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it promptly.
Your Data Rights
The Colorado Privacy Act, Colorado Revised Statutes §§ 6-1-1301 through 6-1-1313, may provide additional rights depending on whether and how it applies. Separately, access to Colorado court records is governed by the Colorado Judicial Branch Public Access to Court Records Policy maintained under Chief Justice Directive 05-01; that policy concerns judicial records, not visitor data collected by this private site. At a minimum, you may:
- Request deletion of your data
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Opt out of certain forms of processing
- Request a copy of information we hold about you
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy in the future. Any revision will be posted here with an updated effective date, so review this page periodically for changes to our practices.
